2 inmates tested positive; masks and gloves now required

Two inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Gibson County jail. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The sheriff’s office says it learned of the two cases Monday.

Officials say jail officers conducted an investigation and found that the cases were in two separate dayrooms and on two separate floors.

The officers contacted medical staff about the positive cases.

The sheriff’s office say for now, all jail and kitchen staff will be required to wear N95 masks and gloves.

Every dayroom will be treated as a quarantine unit until advised otherwise by medical staff.

Staff will be using sanitizing machines to disinfect high traffic areas.

Sheriff Vanoven planned to meet with the Gibson County Health Department Tuesday.

The Gibson County jail was hit by a deadly COVID outbreak in 2020.
