Police Catch Murder Suspect in Posey County

Source: ISP

ISP: The man, wanted in a Colorado homicide, fled from police on I-64

Indiana State Police have arrested a murder suspect after a high-speed chase in Posey County on Friday. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The ISP says a trooper spotted a speeding SUV on I-64 and tried to stop it.

Police say the driver didn’t stop and continued to travel east at a high rate of speed before exiting at State Road 165 and then onto County Road 1000 South.

The ISP says the driver reached speeds of more than 90 mph before losing control, leaving the roadway, rolling several times, and coming to rest in an open field.

Police say the driver was not injured and was taken into custody.

The ISP says officers learned that the SUV had been stolen in Colorado and the driver, 26-year-old Shawnathan Deangelo Chance of Dunn, North Carolina, was a suspect in a Colorado homicide.

Police say Chance is being held without bond at the Posey County Jail for Colorado authorities.

He faces charges of Murder, Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Reckless Driving.
