Roy Durham, 37, pleaded guilty to firearm and drug dealing charges

An Evansville man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison on drug and weapons charges. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Judge Richard Young sentenced 37-year-old Roy Durham to 92 months in prison after Durham pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.

Indiana State Police said Durham pointed a gun at a trooper and then fled on foot from an Evansville gas station in June 2020.

Police said Durham left the handgun behind, along with more weapons, ammunition, synthetic marijuana, cell phones, laptop computers, and more than $1,500 in his vehicle.

Police later arrested Durham, who had previous firearm and drug dealing convictions.

The U.S. Department of Justice says the Durham case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program involving all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
