Rain, Snowfall Put an End to Burn Emergency

Tim Jagielo, WNIN

Vanderburgh County issued the emergency a month ago

The open burning emergency has been lifted in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

County Commissioners say they spoke with area fire chiefs who recommended lifting the open burning restrictions based on recent rainfall.

Among the precipitation was an unexpected amount of snow that fell Saturday morning.

Parts of the Evansville area saw more than three inches of the white stuff.

The open burning emergency was declared in mid-October due to dry conditions.

It prohibited open burning, including fire pits. Grilling food was still allowed.
