Police Identify Suspect in Fatal Hit and Run

Douglas “Nathan” Phelps is suspected of killing Zachary Higgins on a Hopkins County road

Authorities have named a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run in western Kentucky. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office says there’s now an active warrant for the arrest of 34-year-old Douglas “Nathan” Phelps in connection with the death of 30-year-old Zachary Higgins.

The sheriff’s office says Higgins was hit by an unknown vehicle on Tippet Road near Hanson early Wednesday morning.

The vehicle left the scene but deputies recovered parts of the vehicle.

Phelps is wanted for leaving the scene of a fatal accident and driving on a suspended license.
