Newburgh Blaze Sends Firefighter to Hospital

Fire damaged a home on Derby Hill

Authorities are investigating a house fire in Newburgh that sent a firefighter to the hospital. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Newburgh firefighters were dispatched to the 400 block of Darby Hill just after 9:00 Thursday morning.

Crews reported seeing black smoke before they got to the fire scene.

Photos from the scene show firefighters opened the roof to extinguish the flames.

Damage appeared to be significant.

There was no word of any injuries among residents but a firefighter was sent to Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

The firefighter’s condition was not known.

CenterPoint Energy was called to the scene to disconnect utilities.
