EFD: Tuesday closure will allow investigators safe access

Weinbach Avenue will be closed at the site of last month’s deadly house explosion Tuesday. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Evansville Fire Department says Weinbach will be closed from 8:00 a.m. until about 4:00 p.m. between Vogel Rd. and Bellaire Ave.

EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says the closure will allow investigators safe access to the blast site as they continue their investigation.

Larson said the fire department has “no new information in regards to the incident.”

The state fire marshal’s office is the lead investigator.

The closure on N. Weinbach was planned more than two weeks ago before being postponed.

The explosion at 1010 N. Weinbach on August 10th killed two residents of the home and a neighbor.

Eleven homes were damaged beyond repair.
