Coroner Identifies Child Who Died in Lloyd Crash

File

The fiery crash claimed the life of 20-month-old Kashmir Morris

Authorities have released the identity of the child who died in a fiery crash on the Lloyd Expressway. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says 20-month-old Kashmir Morris died in Friday evening’s crash near the Highway 41 overpass.

An autopsy determined the little boy died of burns within the vehicle.

Kashmir’s mother, who was driving the vehicle, was taken to Ascension St. Vincent Hospital with 2nd and 3rd degree burns and then transferred to a Louisville hospital.

Evansville Fire Department Division Chief Mike Larson says witnesses reported the vehicle abruptly swerved from the far-right lane and slammed into the concrete median of the Lloyd.

Larson says passing drivers stopped and pulled the driver from the burning vehicle.

After firefighters knocked down the flames, they found the child in the passenger area of the vehicle.

Crews at the scene attempted life-saving measures but the boy later died at Deaconess Hospital.
