Emergency vehicles on the scene of the Weinbach house explosion

The explosion killed 3 people and left 11 homes beyond repair

Authorities have released autopsy results from the victims of last week’s house explosion. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says the preliminary cause of death for Charles and Martina Hite was Blunt Force Trauma to the Chest.

The Hites were inside the house that exploded at 1010 N. Weinbach Avenue last Wednesday.

The coroner’s office says neighbor Jessica Teague died of Compression Asphyxia.

The office says both final and toxicology reports are pending.

The blast damaged eleven homes beyond repair, leaving 15 families displaced.

The Red Cross says it’s working with local government and community agencies to assess the needs of those impacted by the explosion.

The organization says it has what it needs for now and is not currently accepting financial donations designated for this tragedy.

A GoFundMe account has been established to help the Hite family.

Multiple agencies continue to investigate the cause of the blast.
