The utility company says gas line pressure was normal

CenterPoint Energy says gas and electric service remains shut off near the site of Wednesday’s deadly house explosion. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

The company says residents with homes on Weinbach Avenue from Bellaire to Vogel and the east side of Hercules Avenue will remain without power as the investigation continues.

CenterPoint says there was no work being performed by crews at 1010 N. Weinbach or the surrounding area near the time of the blast.

After being notified of the explosion, CenterPoint Energy says it activated its emergency response plan.

Crews responded and turned off natural gas service to nearby homes and businesses.

CenterPoint says crews completed leak surveys in the surrounding area, with all readings outside the structure reporting negative, indicating no gas leaks.

The company also says pressure readings performed on gas lines were normal.

CenterPoint says it continues to work with all agencies involved in the investigation process and is committed to the safety of customers, employees, contractors, systems, and communities.
