Authorities have released the identity of the man who was shot in his car and later died in Owensboro. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The Daviess County Coroner’s office has identified the victim as John T. Leak, Jr. of Owensboro.
The OPD says detectives have also obtained surveillance video showing the suspects and the vehicle involved.
Police responded to the 1200 Block of West 7th Street just after 11:00 Monday night for a vehicle crash into a house.
The OPD says when officers arrived, they discovered a gunshot wound on Leak.
An ambulance took him to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he later died. There was no word of any injuries in the house.
Detectives believe Leak was shot in the 900 block of West 7th and tried to drive away, before crashing into the house about three blocks away.
