Authorities Identify 2 Workers who Died In Accident at Big Rivers

File

The men were trapped in a drainage system at the sprawling plant in Henderson County

Authorities have released the identities of the two men who died at the Big Rivers power plant in Henderson County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Coroner Bruce Farmer identifies the victims as 34-year-old Eric Williams of Henderson and 39-year-old Phillip Hill of Greenville.

Williams and Hill died after getting trapped in a drainage system on the Big Rivers property Tuesday afternoon.

Autopsies were scheduled for Wednesday.

The coroner’s office has not released an official cause of death.

First responders tried to rescue the men but were hampered by toxic fumes in the drainage system.

Big Rivers Electric President and CEO Bob Berry called the accident a "devastating loss.”
