File

OPD: The 17-year-old had an AR-15-type weapon and faces numerous charges

Owensboro police have arrested an armed 17-year-old boy accused of leading police on a chase that ended in a crash. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The OPD says the teen driver wouldn’t stop for officers on Sunday, resulting in a short pursuit.

The suspect vehicle and a police cruiser collided at the corner of Tamarack Road and South Griffith Avenue.

The officer involved suffered minor injuries.

Police took the 17-year-old into custody on charges including Wanton Endangerment, Receiving Stolen Property, Fleeing and Evading Police, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, and Disorderly Conduct.

The OPD said the juvenile had six pick-up orders issued by the court and was in possession of a stolen AR-15-style rifle.
