IDs Released in Deadly Spencer County Crash

An Indy man died and a sheriff's deputy was injured

Authorities have released the identities of a man who died and a sheriff’s deputy who was injured in a head-on crash in Spencer County. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

Indiana State Police say 61-year-old Phillip Everett Brown Jr. of Indianapolis died in Thursday’s early morning crash on State Road 66 near Old Lamar Highway.

The ISP said Brown’s SUV ran off the road, overcorrected, crossed the centerline, and crashed into a Spencer County Sheriff’s vehicle.

Brown was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputy Ronald Wayne Harper Jr. of Tell City was transported to an Owensboro hospital and then flown to a Louisville hospital.

The ISP said the 27-year-old Harper’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
