Spencer County Crash Kills 1, Injures Sheriff's Deputy

The early morning crash happened on State Road 66 near Troy

One person is dead and a sheriff’s deputy is injured after a head-on crash in Spencer County. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

It happened early Thursday on State Road 66 near Old Lamar Highway.

Indiana State Police say an eastbound SUV drove off the road, overcorrected, and crossed the centerline into the path of a Spencer County Sheriff’s vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The person’s name has not been released.

The deputy was transported to an Owensboro hospital and then flown to a Louisville hospital.

The ISP said the deputy’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. The deputy's name hasn't been released.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash.
