The county received a Homeland Security grant

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office says it will upgrade and replace its body cameras. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The agency says it was awarded a grant of $7,600 to improve its deputies’ body cams.

Captain Deborah Borchelt applied for and completed the competitive grant application, which will fund $400 per body camera, with a 25% match requirement from the Sheriff’s Office.

The Indiana Department of Homeland Security awarded the competitive grant and will require reports to be filed to ensure proper spending of the money.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office has used body cameras for its patrol deputies since 2014.
