Pet cat dies in blaze

Fire damaged an apartment house in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story.

Firefighters were dispatched to 1404 Culver Drive at about 5:30 Sunday evening.

EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says crews found smoke coming from the attic of the two-story house, which had been converted to four apartments.

Larson said crews extinguished the attic fire in about 15 minutes.

He said no tenants were home at the time of the fire but crews found a pet cat and tried to resuscitate the animal but to no avail,

No people were injured. The Red Cross was notified to assist the occupants.

Larson said investigators determined it was an accidental electrical fire.
