Evansville Man Accused of Shooting Neighbor

File

EPD: Shooting happened in victim's home

A woman is in the hospital and a man is in jail after a shooting on Evansville’s Southeast Side. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

Police were dispatched to the area of Riverside and Alvord just before 8:00 Monday morning, after multiple reports of shots fired.

Central Dispatch then received a call from 2213 E. Riverside stating that a woman had been shot and that the shooter was still inside.

That caller was in another part of the house and was able to get out safely.

Officers surrounded the house and the female victim walked to an EPD officer. An ambulance took her to a hospital.

In a release, EPD Sgt. Anna Gray said the suspect eventually exited the rear of the home and refused to comply with officers’ commands.

Gray said officers deployed a police K9 and a TASER during the apprehension.

She said the suspect, thirty-nine year old Sendaneo Wallace of Evansville, and three EPD officers were treated for minor injuries after the struggle.

Gray said a handgun was later found outside the home.

Wallace was jailed on charges of Battery Committed with a Deadly Weapon, Battery on a Public Safety Officer, Burglary, and Resisting Law Enforcement.

The suspect was reportedly a neighbor of the victim.
