Blaze on S. Weinbach sent victim to the hospital

A woman is recovering from burns after Evansville firefighters extinguished a house fire Thursday afternoon. WNIN’s Sarah Kuper has more:

Fire officials arrived at 2708 South Weinbach shortly after 4pm to find smoke coming from the home and flames in a bathroom. According to officials they put out the fire in less than ten minutes but there was smoke and heat damage throughout the home.

When the occupant called, she stated she had been burned so AMR officials were able to treat her at the scene and then transport her to a hospital. She was burned on her face and arms but officials report the burns are not life threatening.

The Red Cross is assisting the occupant with housing and officials are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
