U.S. Senator Todd Young says the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court should respect the constitution as it’s written. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The Indiana Republican told WNIN Lawmakers that he’s heard good things about President Biden’s pick, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
But he has a central constitutional question:
"Does she regard it as a malleable document that she can sort of apply to current circumstances in a way that is consistent with her values or progressive values. Or instead, is she merely focused on applying the law as written to the facts of a given case."
At a White House event on Friday introducing Jackson, President Biden described her as a consensus-builder with a "pragmatic understanding that the law must work for the American people."
She would be the first black woman to serve on the nation’s highest court.
