Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke announced Friday morning the new name for Lloyd Pool’s replacement. It comes just two days after he unveiled its proposed location in Garvin Park.

Winnecke said the new facility will be called the Deaconess Aquatic Center. He made the announcement with two Deaconess executives by his side.

The hospital system has committed $2.5 million over fifteen years to receive naming rights, which is only a portion of the total projected cost of $28.4 million. Additional money would come from the Jacobsville TIF fund and the riverboat fund.

The mayor said he will attend the city council meeting Monday night to request bonds.
