The I-69 Ohio River Crossing (ORX) Project Team recently sent letters to 700 property owners letting them know the team will conduct non-invasive surveys and research on their property. 

The team is also checking bridges for signs of bats and examining the soil to determine the boundaries of wetlands.

You have another opportunity to learn about the preliminary options for a new bridge linking Evansville and Henderson. 

I-69 Ohio River Crossing – or I-69 ORX – conducted an open house Tuesday evening in Henderson and will conduct another Wednesday evening in Evansville.

The event is from 4:30 to 7:30 at Bosse High School on Washington Avenue.

The open house will include project presentations at 5 and 6:30 p.m.

 Henderson residents voiced their concerns on the short list of I-69 bridge corridors at Tuesday evening’s open house.  The I-69 Ohio River Crossing (I-69 ORX) Project Team is looking at three bridge proposals, two of which could affect a number of Henderson businesses and residences.

Lynda Spooner lives in one of the homes potentially impacted by West Corridor 1. She instead favors the Central Corridor with the least disturbance to urban development.

Dozens of people attended the first of two open houses to learn more about proposed corridors for an I-69 bridge connecting Evansville and Henderson. 

I-69 Ohio River Crossing spokeswoman Mindy Peterson told the gathering at Milestones that officials want to hear from the public about the 3 proposed paths, two of which would eliminate the Twin Bridges.

WNIN News asked consultant Dan Prevost if tolls on a new bridge, and possibly on one or two of the Twin Bridges are a certainty…

I-69 bridge group to issue short list

Officials plan to present a short list of potential routes for an I-69 bridge later this month. 

I-69 Ohio River Crossing has scheduled 2 open houses to present the short list, after issuing a list of 5 possible corridors in April.

A news release from the group says an extensive screening process is continuing, and the short list should be issued by the end of this month.

The first open house is set for Monday, July 31st, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Milestones on S. Cullen Avenue in Evansville.
