Nowhere in the country is the fan base for two top college basketball programs so divided by a river! The Ohio River separates the fanatical Indiana Hoosier fans to the north and passionate University of Kentucky fans to the south. WNIN embraces our unique basketball geography with a weekly radio program called Red Blue Hoops. Hosts Chad Payton (IU) and Evan Beck (UK) will compare, debate, and critique the IU and UK basketball programs and occasionally other area basketball teams like USI and UE.Each week Chad and Evan will review the latest game results, discuss the next week’s games, and rib each other about unexpected losses. And expect very passionate debate (also known as good natured “trash talking”) when the subject turns to which program has the most tradition or which has had the better players over the years.Red Blue Hoops is broadcast live at 6pm Central Time each Thursday on WNIN-FM. Be a part of the action by calling in (812.426.7400) or tweeting questions @redbluehoops for the hosts. Listen on your radio on 88.3 FM or online! Red Blue Hoops is presented by German American Bank. 0000017c-83f8-d4f8-a77d-b3fd0c280000

Red Blue Hoops Season 3: Episode 3

Both Indiana University and University of Kentucky men’s basketball teams celebrated wins the past week, however host Chad Payton had a lot to talk about with IU’s recent close game at Penn State and what the team needs to accomplish in upcoming games. Host Evan Beck reviewed the wins UK and tried figuring out why opposing teams have chanted “overrated” towards the end of the games.

Beck and Payton also discussed if college basketball should be moved back to start in January. They examine if by not competing with football would help increase TV ratings and revenues, make players finish two semesters rather than being one-and-done, and work on player development with more focus on academics during the fall semester. Review of the University and Evansville and University of Southern Indiana’s past week to close out the show.

Catch Red Blue Hoops back in action next Thursday night at 6pm Central on 88.3 WNIN-FM and online at wnin.org. You can also connect with the show on Twitter by following @redbluehoops. More information and previous shows can be found on the Red Blue Hoops page.
