Two people are seriously injured after a wrong-way crash on the Veterans Memorial Parkway in Evansville.
Police say it happened at 1:15 Wednesday morning in the eastbound lanes of the parkway near Waterworks Road.
In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said a vehicle going the wrong direction collided head on with another vehicle.
Winsett said a third vehicle was also hit after the initial collision.
Evansville Firefighters extricated both drivers from the head-on crash. They were taken to hospitals for what police called “seemingly serious injuries.”
The third driver reported no injuries.
Two passengers from the wrong-way crash were also taken to hospitals to be checked for minor injuries.
Investigators – including an accident re-constructionist -- were on the scene for two-and-a-half hours.
The names of the injured have not been released.
