Work On Rail Signals To Restrict Traffic On 41

Another railroad project is planned along U.S. 41 in Evansville.

The Indiana Department of Transportation says crews will replace the crossing signals on 41 near the former Whirlpool building this weekend.

INDOT says crews will close the inside passing lanes of both northbound and southbound 41 near Yokel Road during the work.

Traffic will still get through on the outside lanes.

The work’s expected to start Saturday and wrap up by Sunday evening.

Later this month, crews are expected to remove the railroad tracks on 41 between Virginia Street and the Lloyd Expressway.

That work will close all lanes of 41 during the two-day project.

The rough crossing has been a source of irritation for drivers for decades.
