Warm Weather Ties Christmas Record

File

Evansville tied its record for the warmest Christmas Day.

Wednesday’s weather was great for anyone who received a bicycle or a basketball from Santa, not so great for those who received a sled or a winter coat.

The mercury reached 68 degrees on  Christmas Day, tying the record high for Evansville set nearly 40 years ago.

The average high temperature for this time of year is about 43.

The National Weather Service says mild temperatures will continue with spring-like showers and thunderstorms likely this weekend, especially Saturday night and Sunday.

Colder air moves in Sunday night, with a near-normal high in the mid-40’s on Monday.

Forecasters don’t expect any snow or ice.
