VU Training Medical Assistants

File

Vincennes University has announced a new opportunity that could help fill an urgent need for medical assistants.

A medical assistant is someone who performs clinical and administrative tasks in a healthcare setting. And they are in high demand – the need for trained MAs is growing faster than average for all occupations according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Now, Vincennes University is offering Hoosiers free training for aspiring medical assistants as part of Indiana’s Next Level Jobs program.

In collaboration with the Elmer Buchta Technology Center in Petersburg, students can get their certification at no cost if they are eligible for the program. Executive Director of the Technology Center Ashley Polen Willis says administrators look forward to expanding the talent pipeline in Pike County and the southwest region of Indiana.

A certified MA has an average salary of $35 thousand dollars a year. To apply, email nextleveljobs@vinu.edu
