Vectren Gas Rate Hearing Set for Monday Evening

File

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday evening on Vectren’s proposed natural gas rate increase.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will conduct the field hearing at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Evansville at 6 p.m.

A live stream of the hearing will be available on YouTube.

Vectren, which is now owned by Texas-based CenterPoint Energy, is seeking a nearly $30 million increase in two phases.

In a release, the IURC says the average residential customer would see a monthly increase of about $15 on their gas bills.

Vectren says the request is due to higher operating and maintenance costs, and $347 million in infrastructure investments since 2007.

If approved, the increase would begin this summer. Electric rates would not be affected.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, customers who wish to speak during the hearing are encouraged to participate by telephone instead of attending in person.

Those who attend at the venue will be required to wear face coverings and comply with social distancing guidelines.

Consumers who plan to speak are urged to RSVP no later than Noon Monday by calling 317-232-5888 or by visiting www.IN.gov/OUCC
