Vanderburgh COVID Death Toll Up 7; Improves from Red to Orange

File

Seven more COVID 19-related deaths have been reported in Vanderburgh County, along with another seven in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.

The Indiana Department of Health pushed Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll to 243, and recorded 157 new infections in the county to top 19,000 since March.

Despite the new numbers, Vanderburgh improved enough over the past two weeks to move from the state’s “red” category to the “orange” category.

Three new COVID-related deaths were recorded in Warrick County, two in Dubois County, and one in Gibson County.

Statewide, Indiana tallied 62 new fatalities and more than 2,900 new cases. The Wednesday report was the third straight with fewer than 3,000 new infections across the state.

The Green River District Health Department reported one new COVID-related death in Webster County, along with 264 new infections in the seven-county district.
