USI to name new president Thursday

The University of Southern Indiana plans to hire a new president this week.

The USI Board of Trustees will meet in special session Thursday afternoon to select the university’s next president.

It will be USI’s 4th president, replacing the retiring Linda Bennett -- who also serves on the WNIN Board.

The new USI president is expected to meet with media members after the meeting.

The publicly-funded university has kept the selection process quiet.

The executive session will be held at the Griffin Center on the USI campus at 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

Last month, the privately-funded University of Evansville chose Christopher Pietruszkiewicz (pet-ruh-SKEV-ich) as its new president.

Pietruszkiewicz is currently the dean of the Stetson University College of Law and a former Louisiana State University faculty member and administrator.
