USI Celebrates New Complex, Sculpture

USI

The University of Southern Indiana is celebrating the opening of its new Screaming Eagles Complex and Aquatic Center and the reveal of a new campus art installation.

USI hosted an open house and campus celebration on Thursday.

The event included the unveiling of the Screaming Eagle, a 12.5-foot tall aluminum sculpture depicting USI’s athletic logo.

It was designed by USI Professor Emeritus of Art John McNaughton and Professor Emerita of Art Joan Kempf deJong.

In a release, University President Ron Rochon thanked all the people who made the facilities a reality.

The Screaming Eagles Complex is a renovation and addition to the former Physical Activities Center.

The Aquatic Center houses an 8-lane, 25-meter by 25-yard pool, and a diving well that will become home to USI’s men’s and women’s new Swimming and Diving teams in fall of 2022.
