The budget, new offiers and a new degree program were approved at the trustee's regular meeting.
In addition to approving the $118.8 million dollar budget, the board voted to reaffirm their commitment to USI President Ronald S. Rochon, saying that his leadership, especially during the past year dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, has placed the school in the best possible position to thrive in the future.
In a release, USI officials announced that the board also elected new officers. Ron Romain is the new trustees chair.
Citing increasing employment figures in the field, the board approved a new Bachelor of Science in Health Administration degree program, which will be offered through the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
The release said the new degree will prepare students for entry level jobs in the health administration sector. The proposed degree now goes to the Indiana Commission for Higher Education for final approval.
