UE Faculty Senate Votes "No Confidence" in Pietruszkiewicz

File

The University of Evansville’s Faculty Senate has voted that it has “no confidence” in UE President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz.

UE History Professor James McLeod tells WNIN the senate vote Tuesday evening was 13-to-2 against Pietruszkiewicz.

The action sets up a vote by the full faculty.

If a majority of faculty members vote in favor of the no confidence measure, Pietruszkiewicz will be asked to respond within seven days.

If he can't agree to the professors' terms, he'll be asked to provide a written response explaining why.

UE professors want more say in an ongoing review of school programs that Pietruszkiewicz has acknowledged will lead to job cuts.

The university’s board of Trustees meets this week, but Pietruszkiewicz said the board will not take any action on the programs yet.

Last month, several UE faculty members joined the American Association of University Professors, in an effort to boost their input in academic issues.
