Tornado Watch Issued for Tri-State

File

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch in effect until 5:00 p.m. Thursday.

Forecasters are calling for scattered severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

They say damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes are all possible.

The weather service adds “a few significant tornadoes cannot be ruled out.”

Forecast maps show all of western Kentucky, extreme southern Indiana, and a portion of southeast Illinois facing an “enhanced risk” of severe storms.

The weather service says the storms are developing as a warm front moves into the area from the south.
