Time to "fall back"

Remember to “fall back” this weekend.

The Tri-State returns to Standard Time early Sunday morning.

These days, many devices – including smart phones -- automatically make the change.

But you’ll need to set old-fashioned clocks BACK one hour before turning in Saturday night to be on time Sunday morning.

Fire officials say the time change is also a good reminder to put fresh batteries in smoke detectors.

The change will add some daylight in the morning, and take away some daylight in the evening.

The amount of daylight continues to diminish each day, down to about 10.5 hours between sunrise and sunset.

That trend will continue until the winter solstice December 21st.

After that, the days will gradually get longer and Daylight Saving Time will return in March.
