Three Dead, One Wounded In Owensboro Shooting

Three people are dead and one wounded after a shooting at a home in Owensboro, Kentucky. Police were responding to a request for a welfare check when officers found the victims.

Officers received the call shortly before 11 a.m. CT. Two people were found dead at the home. The third was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hosptial in critical condition, where he later died. 

The victims have been identified as 43-year-old Michael Sowders, 35-year-old Robert Smith Jr., and 18-year-old Christopher Carrie. 

Thirty-five-year-old Carmen Vanegas was also taken to the hospital in critical condition. She's currently receiving treatment. 

Arnett Baines and Cylar Shemwell, both of Ownensboro, have been charged with three counts of murder and one count of assault. 

There's still no word about who made that initial call to police or why. As of Friday afternoon, an investigation is still underway. Police have not relesaed a motive. 

"That’s part of the investigation," Owensboro Police Deparment public information officer Andrew Bogess told reporters Thursday afternoon. "We have some theories, but nothing to go off of at this point."
