Six More COVID Deaths in SW Indiana; Hospitalizations Down

File

A half dozen more COVID 19-related deaths have been recorded in southwest Indiana, while hospitalizations continued to fall.

The Indiana Department of Health added two more fatalities in Vanderburgh County, two in Gibson County, one in Posey County, and one in Spencer County.

Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll reached 480 and new infections outnumbered new vaccinations 46-to-43 on the Wednesday dashboard.

The agency did report 144 more booster shots, while the county’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals held at about 19.5 percent.

The most encouraging number on the report was the number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana. That total fell to 89 – the lowest since early August.

Statewide, the agency recorded 51 new COVID-related deaths and more than 2,000 new infections.
