This story has many layers, inlcuding an unlikely meeting in the dead of winter in Chicago, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Signature School and the village of Ekerenyo in Southwestern Kenya. Thanks to a partnership with the Youth Cafe in Nairobi, producer Angela Noi also contributed to this series.

Signature School Ranked Among Nation's best

An Evansville charter school is named the top high school in Indiana and among the top ten in the U.S.

U.S. News and World Report ranked Signature School the best high school in Indiana, the 3rd best charter school in the country, and the 10th best overall.

On its website, the magazine cited Sig School’s Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, and reported its students consistently outscore state and national averages on college entrance exams.

The school on Main St. in Evansville was also honored for its 100-percent graduation rate and a nearly 97-percent college readiness rate.

Signature School enrolls about 360 students.

It was the only Evansville-area school to make the U.S. News and World Report list.
