Sewer Leak, Sinkhole Slow Traffic on U.S. 41

File

Crews have repaired a sewer leak but it’s still slowing traffic on Highway 41 in Evansville.

Authorities closed two of the three lanes of Southbound 41 near Virginia St. when the roadway sank.

The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility said the sinkhole was due to a sewer leak under the pavement.

In a release, the utility said crews have repaired the leak but southbound 41 will remain down to one lane between Virginia and the Lloyd Expressway as crews repair the road.

The road work is expected to last until Monday evening.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive safely in the work area.
