Search Continues For Driver Who Led Police On Chase With Kids In The Car

File

Authorities are looking for a man who led officers on a chase with children in the car.

In a release, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies tried to stop the car early Saturday near U.S. 41 and Morgan Avenue.

They said the driver appeared to be impaired.

The Sheriff’s Office said the driver led deputies on a pursuit into the 2200 block of E. Tennessee Street.

Deputies said the driver suddenly stopped there and abandoned his vehicle on foot.

They found a four year old, a ten year old, and an adult passenger still in the vehicle.

Deputies said the four year old was not restrained.

The sheriff’s office said the pursuing deputies were unaware of the young passengers in the car until after the vehicle stopped.

They said a handgun was also found on the vehicle’s floorboard.

The suspect evaded deputies and assisting Evansville Police officers.

The Department of Child Services responded to the scene to check the welfare of the children.
