River City Rascals To Cease Operations

One of the Evansville Otters’ opposing teams is calling it quits.

The River City Rascals have informed the city of O’Fallon, Missouri that they will cease operations at the end of this year.

The Frontier League team has played in the town west of St. Louis for 21 years.

O’Fallon and the Rascals previously agreed to a one-year lease for this year with the intention of working towards a long-term lease.

But on its website, the team said officials decided to terminate the lease at the end of this season.

O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessey said the city will begin discussions to attract a new team and other entertainment at CarShield Field.

The Otters are hosting the Rascals at Bosse Field this week.
