Posey Schools Planning Return to Classrooms

File

Mt. Vernon and North Posey schools have released a reopening plan.

The plan posted on the Mount Vernon and North Posey websites includes a letter of approval from the Posey County Health Department.

The document says masks will be "strongly encouraged" but not be mandated for students unless later required by a public health authority.

The plan urges parents to stress to their children the importance of frequent hand washing and not touching their faces.

The plan also includes a five percent threshold for temporary school closures.

If the infection rate among students and faculty reaches five percent at any school, that school will close and go to E-learning.

Potential school closures would likely last no longer than two weeks.

The Posey County school systems say they’re “excited” to get back in the classroom for in-person instruction, but admit they’re anticipating some “disruptions” during the school year.
