Police Pursuit Starts in Evansville, Ends in Henderson

File

An Evansville man is in custody after authorities say he led police on a two-state chase.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says 23-year-old Christopher Norman was wanted for escape, dealing methamphetamine, theft, and resisting law enforcement.

In a release, the Sheriff's Office said deputies received a credible threat that Norman was armed with a handgun and would shoot any law enforcement officer he encountered.

Deputies attempted to stop Norman on S. Kentucky Avenue Wednesday afternoon, but they say he fled south toward Henderson.

Norman was pursued across the Twin Bridges and down the Henderson Strip, before police employed Stop Sticks on the Pennyrile Parkway to deflate his tires.

The sheriff’s office says Norman rammed his vehicle into of one of the pursuing deputies and was taken into custody.

No serious injuries were reported.

Police agencies on both sides of the Ohio River were involved in the arrest.

The incident backed up traffic on the Pennyrile during the afternoon commute.

The sheriff’s office says Norman has been arrested in Vanderburgh County 23 times since 2015.
