Police Chase Ends in High Water

File

A police pursuit in Warrick County ended in floodwaters.

It happened early Thursday after a Warrick Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a vehicle near Boonville with no visible license plate and the driver acting suspicious.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver led officers on a short chase south of Boonville eventually ending in the Yankeetown Bottoms.

Deputies said the driver, identified as 28-year-old Dan Adams, drove his vehicle into flood waters near Little Pigeon Creek.

They said Adams initially tried to swim to the other side of the creek, but decided to swim back to shore where deputies were waiting to take him into custody.

Adams was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

Medical staff cleared his release and deputies took him to the Warrick County Jail.

Adams was charged with Resisting Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving and other driving infractions.

Authorities said he also had a parole warrant out of Kentucky.
