County Commissioner Ben Shoulders led a crowd of around twenty volunteers and elected officials in singing "Happy Birthday" to Vanderburgh County. The county turned 200 this year, and county commissioners hosted a party Friday at the old courthose to celebrate.

There was a bounce castle and a zip line for kids and a cash bar for grown-ups, but Vannetta and Lydia McDowell were in charge of the main attraction: cake.

The McDowells are volunteers from the Evansville chapter of Children of the American Revolution.  The cake they cut and passed out was decorated with photos of the courthouse, and Lydia said the cake was "delicious."

County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave gives opening remarks.

County Sheriff Dave Wedding also took a piece. “The cake was fantastic," he said. "Anything that is made from Donut Bank is always tasty.”

He said the party is a good chance for people to make friends from the community, and he hoped the county will continue to grow for the next two-hundred years.
