Parole Officer Arrested for Burglary

VCSO

Authorities have arrested a parole officer accused of a burglary on Evansville’s West Side.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and the Indiana Department of Correction arrested State Parole Officer Michael Dodge on charges of Burglary, Obstruction and Official Misconduct.

In a release, the sheriff’s office said it developed information indicating Dodge planned and assisted in a December burglary of a home in the Lamasco neighborhood.

The sheriff’s office said Dodge was armed and had been working in an “off-duty” capacity at the time of the break-in.

Sheriff’s deputies and the Department of Correction arranged for Dodge to meet them at the Sheriff’s Operations Center Tuesday afternoon under the pretense of planning a high-risk warrant service.

But instead deputies arrested Dodge, who they say admitted to his involvement in the burglary and cooperated with investigators.

Dodge was booked into the Vanderburgh County jail on $10,000 bond.

The Indiana Department of Correction said Dodge had worked as a parole officer since June 2016 and will be suspended without pay, pending termination of his employment.
