No New COVID Deaths, But Infections Up in SW Indiana

File

COVID-19 infections are on the rise in southwest Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Health didn’t record any new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties on the Friday dashboard.

But the agency added 64 infections in Vanderburgh, 33 in Warrick, and 13 in Gibson County.

Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate among individuals stood at nearly 17.5 percent, while 62 more local residents became fully vaccinated and more than 500 got booster shots.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county district of southwest Indiana rose by eleven to 77, with less than a third of intensive care beds available.

Across Indiana, the agency recorded 29 more fatalities and a jump of more than 3,900 new infections.

The state’s positivity rate among individuals stood at nearly 19 percent.
