The state of Indiana has released an encouraging COVID-19 report for the Evansville area.

The Department of Health recorded 332 more fully vaccinated residents in Vanderburgh County, raising the local total above 76,300.

The agency also reported no new COVID-related deaths in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, or Spencer counties.

Just nine new infections were tallied in the seven-county region.

In less encouraging news, Vanderburgh’s seven-day positivity rate rose to 6.9 percent and the number of hospitalized COVID patients across southwest Indiana rose to 27.

Statewide, Indiana recorded a dozen new fatalities and more than 300 new infections on the Wednesday dashboard.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate improved to 7.4 percent, and the number of hospitalized COVID patients statewide dipped below 600.

That number topped 3,400 in late November.
