New Snow Brings New Traffic Problems

John Gibson

A new layer of snow made the morning commute difficult in the Evansville area on Thursday.

About two inches of new snow fell in Evansville and higher amounts were reported in other parts of the Tri-State.

The new snow fell on top of what was already on the ground following Monday’s snowstorm.

Thursday’s road conditions prompted many school systems to cancel classes again, while some conducted an e-learning day.

Ivy Tech delayed its start time by an hour.

Numerous accidents were reported on area roads, ranging from slide-offs to injury crashes.

The Lloyd Expressway was down to just one clear lane in each direction early in the morning before transportation crews were able to clear the new snow.

The National Weather Service is predicting above-freezing temperatures this weekend and temps reaching the low 50’s next week.
