New COVID Deaths Recorded in Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey Counties as Infections Rise

File

Three more COVID-19 related deaths are reported in the Evansville area.

The Indiana Department of Health announced a new fatality in Vanderburgh County, one in Warrick County, and another in Posey County on the Wednesday dashboard.

It was Vanderburgh’s 410th death of the pandemic, Warrick’s 158th, and Posey’s 57th.

Infections continued to rise, with 153 new cases in Vanderburgh County.

On a more positive note, the number of fully vaccinated county residents rose by 170.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana increased to 209.

Statewide, 25 more COVID-related deaths were tallied with more than 3,500 new infections.

More than 1,600 Hoosiers were hospitalized -- the highest number of COVID patients since early February.

The numbers reflect the impact of the highly-contagious delta variant, which has prompted officials to recommend booster shots for people who were vaccinated eight months ago.
